A sweepstakes casino combines casino-style games with promotional prize play. You will usually see one currency for entertainment and another for sweepstakes participation. The names vary, but the distinction matters: winning more play coins does not necessarily mean you have won a cash prize.
Follow the currency, not the size of the balance
Gold Coins, or similarly named play coins, normally have no cash redemption value. They let you play the games, including through optional purchases. Sweepstakes currencies can have names such as Sweeps Coins, Sweeps Cash or Premium Funzpoints. Their rules explain how promotional play can produce prizes and which winnings become eligible for redemption.
A balance of 100,000 Gold Coins can therefore have less redeemable value than a much smaller prize-currency balance. Even two currencies called SC may use different denominations or redemption conditions. Read the currency explanation before comparing quantities.

Where the free coins come from
Depending on the operator, promotional currency may be available through a signup reward, a login offer, competitions or an alternative method of entry, commonly called AMOE. A purchase is not the only way to participate. Postal AMOE can involve handwritten requests, while some operators use an online submission. Each has its own procedure.
Coin packages often advertise Gold Coins with promotional currency included. Treat the package price as real spending. The word free next to part of a bundle does not make the overall purchase free, and the promotional amount is not a guaranteed cash return.
A sweepstakes is different from a lottery
In the basic distinction described by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, a sweepstakes awards prizes by chance without requiring a purchase or entry fee. A lottery includes payment to participate. Check the minimum age, your state and any residency or location restrictions before opening an account. A working website is not proof of eligibility.
Identify the mode
Check the selected currency before every session. Similar-looking games can have very different consequences in Gold Coin and prize modes.
Understand the redemption conditions
Look for qualifying play, a minimum redemption amount, account verification and available prize methods. A displayed balance may include coins you cannot yet redeem.
Request and track the prize
Save the request confirmation and follow its status. A submitted request, an approved request and money received are separate events.
