Responsible play

Keep play in perspective

We’re pro-fun and anti-harm. GoodSweeps is an educational comparison site. We’re not a casino, and we can’t access player accounts. Play should be entertainment, never a way to pay bills or solve money problems.

Sweepstakes play still needs limits

Many sweepstakes casinos have a currency for entertainment-only play and a promotional currency that may qualify for prize redemption under the operator’s rules. Names, eligibility and redemption conditions vary. Optional purchases can still add up, even where free ways to play are available.

Spending nothing does not remove the need for time limits. The same habits matter whether you buy coins or only use free rewards.

Make a plan before you play

  • Set a spending limit. If you make purchases, decide what you can afford to lose after essentials. Never borrow to play or increase your limit to recover a loss.
  • Set a time limit. Decide when to stop before starting. Use a timer and stop when it goes off, regardless of the result.
  • Don’t chase losses. Another purchase or another round is not a reliable way to get money back.
  • Take breaks. Schedule time away from games. You do not need to collect every daily reward or finish every promotion.
  • Stop if it stops being fun. If you feel pressured to keep playing, step away and consider talking to someone.

Warning signs to take seriously

  • Hiding how much you play or spend.
  • Raising your limits after losses.
  • Playing with money needed for rent, bills or food.
  • Losing sleep or neglecting work, studies or relationships.
  • Feeling unable to stop, or using play to escape stress and worry.

If any of these sound familiar, pause play and reach out for support. You don’t need to wait for a crisis.

Tools that can help

Use your device’s Screen Time or Digital Wellbeing controls to limit app use. Turn off casino notifications and promotional emails if they pull you back into play.

Check the operator’s responsible-play settings or ask its support team about purchase limits, timeouts, self-exclusion and account closure. Tools and exclusions vary by operator; closing one account may not block access to other sites. GoodSweeps cannot apply these controls for you.

For friends and family

Start a calm, factual conversation about what you’ve noticed. Avoid blame. Encourage support and take steps to protect shared finances. The National Problem Gambling Helpline also helps people worried about someone else’s play.

Find the right help

The National Council on Problem Gambling provides information about treatment, peer support and help in your state. Outside the United States, contact a local gambling-support service or healthcare professional.

The gambling helpline is not an emergency service. In the United States, call 911 for immediate danger or call or text 988 for crisis support.

Age and eligibility

GoodSweeps is intended for adults aged 18 or over, or 21 where required. Always check the operator’s age rules and location restrictions. A listing on GoodSweeps does not establish your eligibility to play.
