Tennessee's companion measure SB 2136 was signed on May 22, 2026, and the law took effect that day. The General Assembly's final bill record identifies the enacted measure, paired with HB 1885, as Public Chapter 1117.
The official as-enacted summary says the chapter clarifies that gambling, gambling devices, and operating, conducting or commercially promoting online sweepstakes games and other online or app-based gambling are unlawful and violate the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act.
The same summary records expanded investigative authority for the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council and the attorney general. That gave state authorities additional consumer-protection and investigative tools from the May 22 effective date.
